As the third biggest city in Taiwan, Kaohsiung is now facing difficulties and challenges from aging society. To make Kaohsiung elderly citizens live in dignity, happily and healthily, one of the approaches made by Social Affair Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government is to advocate city-farming. City-farming in Kaohsiung not only serves as a way to care about seniors but also fills fuels for citizens to learn from environment, climate change and plants. The function of Senior Citizen Farm thus becomes multiple: it can be a gym for exercising, a restaurant for people to eat together, a meeting place and even a classroom for learning. Established in 2000, located in Yasin 2nd St., Cianjhen Dist., Senior Citizen Farm provides 44 units (23.1 square meters for each) of land for Kaohsiung citizen to create their "Happy Farm" in real life.
